The Four C’s of Your Diamond
The carat is the measurement unit for the weight of a diamond. Although it represents weight, carat is frequently mistaken for size. A single carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams. The following chart provides a general indication of how diamond size increases as carat weight increases. It’s essential to keep in mind that although the dimensions depicted in the chart are standard, each diamond is exceptional and distinct.
The “color” of a diamond is the inherent hue that is visible and remains and doesn’t change over time. Diamonds that lack color allow a greater amount of light to pass through them, resulting in more brilliance and scintillation. Like a prism, a diamond disperses light into various colors and projects them as flashes of vivid hues known as fire.
