The Four C’s of Your Diamond

Carat

The carat is the measurement unit for the weight of a diamond. Although it represents weight, carat is frequently mistaken for size. A single carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams. The following chart provides a general indication of how diamond size increases as carat weight increases. It’s essential to keep in mind that although the dimensions depicted in the chart are standard, each diamond is exceptional and distinct.

Cut

The term “cut” pertains to the angles and dimensions of a diamond. The way a diamond is cut – its shape and surface quality, its measurements and symmetry, the consistency of its facets – determines its beauty. The level of expertise involved in diamond cutting determines its ability to reflect and refract light effectively.

Color

The “color” of a diamond is the inherent hue that is visible and remains and doesn’t change over time. Diamonds that lack color allow a greater amount of light to pass through them, resulting in more brilliance and scintillation. Like a prism, a diamond disperses light into various colors and projects them as flashes of vivid hues known as fire.

E: Colorless

Colorless diamonds sparkle brightly with a pure, icy-white glow, ideal for reflecting light without any hint of color.

Clarity

The term “clarity” in relation to a diamond pertains to the existence of flaws both on and inside the diamond. Whenever a diamond is extracted from the carbon-rich depths of the earth, minuscule amounts of natural substances are frequently trapped inside and are referred to as inclusions.

VS, or Very Slightly Included, diamonds have minor inclusions visible under 10x magnification.
